Resources for Parents
Every Child Ready to Read
The best advice for families with young children is to read together every day. TALKING, SINGING, READING, WRITING, AND PLAYING can help your child succeed in school.
Big Hearted Families Reading Lists
Lists of children’s books on specific topics, curated to encourage empathy and kindness. Ask a librarian how to find some of these books at the SCFPL, with discussion cards inside!
Child Development Basics (CDC)
Great resource for parents to learn about the basics of child development: what’s normal, what you should be concerned about, and what parenting practices help children the most.
