This weekend is the annual National Book Festival. I’m excited to attend this year, because I’ve never been to one before. Why? Past festivals have taken place in Washington, D.C., which is about a thousand miles from here. This year, the festival is completely online, which means the only thing you need to attend is a device with an internet connection.
Videos of more than 120 talks and panels will be available on Friday and Saturday. Live chats with authors, poets, illustrators, and librarians from the Library of Congress are scheduled throughout the weekend, including one-hour specials for kids and teens. There is even a TV special scheduled to air on PBS on Sunday at 5 PM. There is a challenge to read across America by reading a book about people in each US state and territory. (Book lists from previous years are available too.) Download the Learning Guide or visit the website to learn more.
And now, a random question: How would you represent the title of your favorite book using emojis?
