Hello!… Today… we… will… be… doing… another… writing… exercise!
Do you ever feel like your writing ideas move at a sloth’s pace? Today we’ll work on loosening up your writing muscles and getting ideas to flow more freely.
Here’s what you do: 1. Find a timer, and set it for 2 and a half minutes. 2. Choose one of the prompts below. 3. Start the timer. 4. Spend 30 seconds thinking. 5. Spend two minutes writing. It doesn’t have to be good. It doesn’t even have to make sense. Don’t judge your writing as you write. Just keep going and see what happens.
Here are some prompts:
What would it be like to live on a boat all the time?
What would happen if you were shrunk down so you were only an inch tall?
You are walking through the forest one day when a tree starts talking to you. What does it say? How do you respond?
Put your writing away for a few days, then pull it out later and see if any of it could become a story!
